ETF Finalist for Tenants Organisation of the Year

Edinburgh Tenants Federation is delighted to have been shortlisted as a finalist in the TIS National Excellence Awards 2017 for our work supporting tenants in Leith in housing rights.

Maud Wylie, Vice Convenor of the Federation said, “We’re just delighted to be nominated for this TIS Award. I really hope we’ll be successful.”

Betty Stevenson, Convenor of the Federation highlighted the efforts of all who were nominated for their work on tenant participation. Betty said, “Well done to all the contestants on behalf of Edinburgh Tenants Federation. I wish them all the best in their great work, and am keeping my fingers crossed.”

ETF was shortlisted for its innovative work on bringing a human rights based approach to tenant participation in a partnership with the Scottish Human Rights Commission (SHRC) and  Participation and the Practice of Rights (PPRP).

The TIS National Excellence Awards recognise and honour landlords, tenants, residents, and community groups who are leading the way and making a difference within the Scottish social housing sector.

TIS Chief Executive, Ilene Campbell (pictured), commented, “The exceptional quality of entries really shined through this year. The strength of applications highlight the fantastic developments that organisations are taking to lead the way throughout the sector.”

The Tenants and Residents Organisation of the Year Award is sponsored by the International Union of Tenants (IUT). This award is for Tenants and Residents Organisations or Community Groups who have made an outstanding contribution to make a real difference at a local or national level. 2017 finalists are:

  • Edinburgh Tenants Federation
  • Longpark and Gladstone Tenants and Residents Association Ltd
  • Tenants and Residents in Muirhouse/Friends of West Pilton
